Agboyi-Ketu, is a cluster of 3 riverine communities with an average of 40,000 residents, according to the Community Head. Due it's location and the lack of infrastructural support, it is cut of from the closest town. There is no link bridge across the water body; thus, people and supplies have to be carried across the dirty river by canoe.

Worm infestation, water borne diseases, skin related complaints, malaria and respiratory infections, are a few of the conditions that the residents are exposed to in these communities.

The members of the Volunteer Medical Corps Lagos Chapter carried out a medical outreach on Saturday, 24th of March 2018, in Agboyi, as it is locally called, where they provided the residents with health education on water purification methods, personal hygiene and prevention of diarrheal diseases. Sanitary pads were distributed to the teenage girls present, and hundreds of children and adults were attending to by the medical and dental personnel.

Water purification solutions, anti-helminthic medications and hematinics were given to the beneficiaries.

Copies of the Healing School magazine and the Rhapsody of Realities daily devotional were also distributed to all those present.

This outreach is the first phase of a planned intervention for this community. To sign up as a volunteer for the VMC -Agboyi Project or to sponsor supplies of drugs,  relief items and  ministry materials, please send an email to contact@blwmedicalcorps.org
